Story
Hi everyone!
So, as you may know, I am currently in training for the London 2012 Marathon.
Yes, I know it's 26.2 miles. Yes, I am aware that this will involve exercise. Trust me, I'm as shocked as you are.
Let me tell you a bit about why I'm doing this. The London Marathon is something I've always wanted to do, but never thought I would. It's always been one of those ridiculous ambitions, you know the one you jokingly tell people about but never think you'll actually do? But this year I'm turning 18, so wanted to fulfil at least one of my silly ambitions. It was either this or training and racing a camel in the Kentucky Derby. But I digress...
So, about this time last year I thought "Enough's enough" and decided that 2012 would be my year. I then entered a strange, foreign land; the gym. Terrifying times, I tell you. But several months into training, everything's going well! With a bit of luck, by race day I'll actually have grown to like running....
But that's enough about me. I want you to know the real reason I'm running the marathon; to raise money for The Children's Trust. As I'm sure you know, this is an absolutely incredible organisation, which provides rehabilitation and support for children and young adults with multiple disabilites, complex health needs, and acquired brain injuries.
Please, please - take just a minute to have a look round their website - http://www.thechildrenstrust.org.uk/ - the case studies in particular demonstrate just how unique and life-changing this charity is.
Last Sunday, The Children's Trust held a training day for all their marathon runners, which included a tour of the Trust. It's hard to put into words how moving it was to hear about the experiences of many of the children there. The strength and courage of the children and their families, and the dedication of the staff is just utterly inspirational. It is a truly remarkable place.
Perhaps the best thing for me was being shown how the money I hope to raise will help. The Trust relies on donations and fundraising in order to help as many children as possible. And you can see, straight away, how the money will help. Here are a few examples:
It's amazing to think that every penny will count, and that we'll be raising money to help improve children's lives every step of the way.
So please, dig deep and sponsor me! Any donation, no matter how big or small, will help in more ways than we could possibly imagine.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Thank you so much for taking the time to look at my page, and please please sponsor me so that together we can help The Children's Trust change lives!

Live long and prosper! Or, you know, a catch phrase that isn't already taken. Adios for now? That'll do.
Adios for now!
