Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’ve never been particularly sporty or competitive (although some of my friends might disagree with the latter!). I was a distinctly average runner at school and throughout adulthood I’ve been through phases of jogging three miles - two or three times a week - in a casual attempt to keep averagely fit.

It has never entered my head to volunteer myself for anything even vaguely competitive, especially something involving running . . . until now that is.

Now I find myself a few weeks away from doing my first ever half marathon.  Even more surprisingly I’ve discovered that I am maybe just a teeny weeny bit more competitive than I thought I was - checking my times after each training session - which is just as well because by far the most important reason for making sure I complete this run, is to raise money for a life-changing charity called Sullivan’s Heroes.

On the 20 December 2011 a little hero called Sully (Sullivan) was born to good friends of mine, Fiona and Richard Smith.  Just over three years later - on the 30 January 2015 - after battling an extremely rare condition, brave Sully left this earth an angel.

In memory of courageous Sully - whose life was short but packed full of many happy adventures and achievements, as well as some incredibly tough battles, and to help the lives of other disabled children like Sully and their families - the charity Sullivan’s Heroes was born.

Set up by Sully’s parents, Fiona and Richard, Sullivan’s Heroes is a charity offering support and financial assistance for families raising much needed funds towards home adaptations for a disabled child, to improve their quality of life within their home environment.

Running a half marathon is a big deal for me so I want something big to come of it.  So on that note I would be massively grateful if you could spare a few pennies or pounds to sponsor me and help other disabled children - like Sully - and their families live life to the full.

Thank you in anticipation of your generous support.
