Becci Swims the English Channel Distance!

Becci Swims the English Channel Distance! · 22 February 2022
Hello!
2 weeks before Christmas 2021 my families life got turned upside down. I got a phone call early that Monday morning from my dad telling me something had happened to my mum, she was on her way into hospital and it didn't look good.
An hour later we found out my mum, Janet Noble had a brain aneurysm that had burst and caused a brain heamhorrage.
It was a big one and we were told to prepare for the worst. She was taken from home to the northern General at Sheffield, then onto the Hallamshire to thier fabulous neuro intensive care.
She had alot happen in the 18 days she was in hospital and we had a few scary times, but thanks to the wonderful wards she came home the day before New year's eve. She's doing as well as can be expected and making a slow and steady recovery.
As fabulous as the wards were, it would all have been impossible without the ambulance team. They arrived quickly, they stabilised my mum, they explained what was going on to my dad and helped him understand what was going to happen next. They resaausred my mum when she came round and kept her calm and stable. The Yorkshire ambulance service got mum to the northern general, scanned and over to the hallamshire within 3 hours. This saved her life.
I am taking on the challenge of swimming 22 miles, the official length of the English Channel Swim, over 18 weeks starting 22.02.22, a week for every day she was in. This may seem like a long time but I will be doing it all open water, and the water is about 2-5 degrees in Feb/March, getting a little warmer each month hopefully. So I can't be in the water for too long at these temperatures, but il still be swimming the distance, may just take a little longer than in a pool.
This doesn't even begin to give the ambulance service the thanks and praise they deserve, but its something I can do to help. I'm sure many of you have needed the ambulance service for yourself or family members, they often get forgotten in being thanked and are having an awful time at present with meeting demands. If you could donate even the smallest amount myself and my family will be very grateful.
