Can't think of a new years resolution? ... Then why not do something great by donating to Camkids. Camkids is a charity that has been set up to support disadvantaged children in Cambodia, by providing care and opportunities that they would not receive without it. Cambodia is a country that went through decades of war and lost approximately 25% of its entire population and the affects are still being felt today. (Please see www.camkids.org for more about the charity). 

I first decided to do some fundraising for a Cambodian charity after watching the film 'The Killing Fields' and understanding a little bit more about what the innocent people of Cambodia went through. I know there are plenty of books out there also and many traveller friends have visited the killing fields and have been moved by the raw truth about what happened not so long ago in this country, but if anyone is unsure whether to donate to this charity (as I know there are so many great charities out there) please watch this film(!!) and consider how much this country deserves some help after all they went through. Cambodia is next on route for me and I can't wait to meet the people and explore the country. I have no doubt that it will be a humbling experience, as I (like most of you) have been so lucky to be born into a country that is extremely safe, secure and wealthy in comparison.

Travelling about and not knowing what I'll be doing from day to day has posed a problem when trying to think of how to raise money on the road, so what I've decided is as and when I find challenges or opportunities to raise some money I will post it asap and anyone who wants to sponsor me to do that challenge can do. If there's anything that you know you would sponsor me to do don't be afraid to contact me and I will consider it! As well as this, you are welcome to make donations to my page particularly those friends and family who lucked out this year and didn't have to buy me presents or cards for my birthday and christmas! I really have no expectation of how much I will raise but I thought I'd set the bar high, so whatever you can contribute will be so appreciated!
