BHF Night Ride – London to Brighton · 26 May 2012 ·

Far too many of us have felt the pain of losing someone we love. With your donations, we power groundbreaking cardiovascular research to save and improve lives, bring hope to families, and keep hearts beating across the UK.

Story

So, I've signed myself up for a 60 mile London - Brighton night time bike ride in May.

I've donned the lycra and the cleats, and I've taken to the streets of London attached to my bike. I've already fallen off to the amusement of everyone around me, but I'm determined to keep going.

So, why am I doing this? It's a very good question and 1 I've asked myself already numerous times. Firstly because I see first hand what heart disease can do, sometimes at the beginning but unfortunately more often than not it's towards the end that I see people coming to A&E for help. It's not just the elderly that suffer, it's young fit and healthy people like the footballer Fabrice Muamba. Over half the UK's heart research is funded by the money we all give, but heart disease remains UK's and Irelands biggest killer.

Secondly, because it's for charity, and we all do these crazy things when we know it's for charity.

Thirdly why not? What else have I got to do on a saturday night at the end of May.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now and together we can help mend broken hearts, and make it to the end of this 60 mile cycle....

Thanks a million everybody
