“There is no question that educating girls is a prerequisite for eradicating poverty” - so say the UN, the World Bank and pretty much all the research. This is what CAMFED are doing. 

Better educated women tend to be healthier, earn more money, have fewer children and marry later. They are more likely to vaccinate and provide better nutrition for their children, and to be equipped with the confidence to confront people in power and challenge the inequalities that still exist for girls and women worldwide.  

CAMFED are getting girls and young women into school and training programmes in the poorest rural communities in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania and Malawi.  Not only does their work immediately put the women they work with into a more equal position; it provides enormous long-term benefits and lasting change for the communities that they touch.
