Story
Breast Cancer Awareness Month has just come to a close, but November is when it all happened for me. It’s the month when I pushed for a third GP consult (after 2 dismissals based on age and family history); it’s the month I was finally referred to the hospital for further investigation; it’s the month they ALL told me it was nothing.
30th November - five years ago - is the day I went in and heard those three shitty little words.
2020 has done its almighty best to come close to as desperate a feeling as that day. We’ve all been pushed to our limits and the suffering is unprecedented in our lifetime, and for now, incalculable. But what we do know is that small charities are struggling.
So this month I’m doing what I can to support the Worcestershire Breast Unit - the place that opened half way through my treatment, and the place that has been a salvation for me and so many others.
It’s hard to explain why it’s so special, but if you’re in the awful position of needing to have treatment for Breast Cancer, then this is the place you want to be.
Treatment, screenings, counselling, therapy - all under one roof, with a first class team of professionals at the forefront, but with a whole lot of love and care at its heart.
If you can spare a few quid I’d be so grateful. I’m giving up the booze until I can celebrate 5 years on, on the 30th November.
Hope you’ll celebrate with me and look forward to brighter days in 2021.
Love you all xxxx
