Story

As you know, on 22 April 2019, Ewan Wilson suffered a major stroke at home in West Sussex. Within 4 minutes of the 999 call, paramedics were on the scene, and were rapidly joined by an emergency medical team from the helicopter sent by the Sussex Air Ambulance. Their efforts over two hours stabilised Ewan sufficiently that he was able to be transferred to St Richards Hospital in Chichester for intensive care. Unfortunately, Ewan passed away on 23 April.

Because of the speed of initial response and the quality of care he received at the scene, Ewan was able to donate his organs to help 5 different recipients around the country. Similarly, Shevani and Bella, and the rest of his close family, would not have been able to be by his bedside to say their goodbyes, had it not been for the wonderful team from the NHS, the Ambulance Service, and the Sussex Air Ambulance, all of whom did everything possible to help Ewan, and support his family, in those awful few days. However, not everyone knows that unlike the normal ambulance service (which is funded from the NHS government budget), the Air Ambulance is not publicly funded and is entirely reliant on charitable donations to keep going.

Therefore, rather than sending flowers to Ewan’s funeral on 3 May 2019, Shevani and Bella would be grateful if friends and family instead donated to the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Trust, the charity who wholly fund and run the Sussex Air Ambulance Service. You can find out more about what they do at https://www.aakss.org.uk. Thank you.
