Remembering Gareth Crockett 10 years on

Alison Elder is raising money for Air Ambulance Northern Ireland
In memory of Gareth Crockett
Air Ambulance NI, in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), provides the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for NI. Serious or life-threatening situations can happen to anyone at any time and on average every day one individual finds themselves in need of AANI.

Story

On the 13th April 2011, my big brother Gareth Crockett and a few others were in the middle of completing a challenge consisting of 4 Marathons and 500 miles of cycling in 8 days to London from Moira, our childhood home. The challenge was due to finish with the London Marathon to raise money in memory of our childhood friend John Erwin who died 11 months before of Leukaemia. When cycling in Wales, Gareth was tragically hit by a car and killed.

10 years on I want to do something in memory of Gareth. I am not as athletic as he was and have two children under 2, so I plan to walk 10k/6 miles every day in April along with my babies, double pram and all and hope to raise a few pounds along the way for Air Ambulance NI.
