Honouring the life of my lovely Dad Harry Helfgott Z"L

Thank you for visiting my justgiving page honouring the life of my lovely Dad.
As we can not have a 'normal' stone-setting or have people come back and share stories of him afterwards, I wanted to do something in honour and to celebrate his life. Charity was important to him, he supported so many and this inspired me. Jewish Care helped me to get my dad diagnosed (I had struggled for years trying to do this, but came up against continual brick walls, I didnt know about Jewish Care then, but when I did, it was a huge life-line), The staff at Jewish Care’s Clore Manor home cared and showed him love for 11.5 years. The staff from the Family Carers Team supported me throughout the whole journey until the very end, I couldn't have got through this without them. Also a special mention to Rabbi Yunik who was also there for us both.
8 years ago, we both took part in the Jewish Care film #purplethread to raise money and awareness for dementia and other terminal illnesses, highlighting the effects on the family and how Jewish Care can help with the support of the carers service which for me in the words of my dad, was immeasurable. I wanted to share this film again with you and ask you to make a small donation

On the 21st June 2020 would have been his birthday and almost 11 months since we lost him so it seemed like the perfect time to do this.
Before the dementia he was my rock, gave the best advice and always had a joke to tell. He spent his time working, doing things for charity, always lending a listening ear to anyone who needed it. He had dementia for 20 years, but was bad for 17 of them. I only wish Jake and Lily could have known my dad without dementia, but we still managed to create some memorable time’s together….some of my favourites was, Jake performing his Barmitzvah at Dad’s care home, Lily and her friend Ora taking their school choir to sing at his home, seeing how my dad reacted to putting on his Tefillin on and saying the Shema.
I really appreciate your support.
Janine xx
