As the world marks World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims on Nov. 18, 2012, we are raising funds for the U.N. Road Safety Fund in memory of Sophie Himene. Sophie was a wife,  mother, daughter, friend...who died tragically in a road traffic accident 21 June 2012, when a driver impaired by the use of drugs failed to stop at a stop light and rammed into her car. Left behind are her husband, Nicolas, and their two young sons.

Sophie was also a fan of Scottish actor James McAvoy and found her way to our international fan board. http://jamesmcavoy.yuku.com/directory She was known to us by her username, Noux. Joining early in 2012, she quickly became a valued and beloved member. She was a talented artist with a delightful sense of humor. She also enjoyed writing, and was finishing her first novel at the time of her death. We were shattered when we learned of her senseless death. More than anything, we felt a deep sense of injustice. We could not let her death be the last word.

In an effort to right the wrong, we chose the U.N. Road Safety Fund (administered by the FIA Foundation for the Automobile and Society) to receive donations in her memory. http://www.roadsafetyfund.org/UNDECADEOFACTION/Pages/default.aspx  In doing so, it is our hope that these efforts will help make the world's roadways safer and prevent more senseless tragedies.
