Three peaks challenge · 6 May 2013

As the UK’s only charity dedicated to helping people affected by Rb, we provide support and information to families and individuals, fund research into the prevention and treatment of retinoblastoma, raise awareness among health professionals and the public and influence policy to improve services.

Story

On Saturday 15th June myself and 5 of my colleagues are taking part in the national three peaks challenge. The challenge involves climbing the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in 24 hours. We would like to raise as much money as possible for the childhood eye cancer trust.

The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust is the only charity which serves the retinoblastoma (Rb) community in the UK.  Rb is a fast growing eye cancer which develops in children under five.  It is treated by number of different therapies, however in most cases the affected eye or eyes are removed, resulting in varying degrees of visual impairment.  Left untreated, Rb can be fatal.  To find out more about this rare condition and how to detect possible signs and symptoms please visit the charity’s website www.chect.org.uk

I chose this charity because they were very supportive when my daughter was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma.
