Story
I'm going to keep this short.
A former colleague and good friend of mine is, right now, doing an amazing job of getting herself and her seven year old daughter through the daily pain of losing their husband and dad. Diagnosed with diabetes, Anthony was told he'd see a cure in his lifetime. Sadly, he was tragically robbed of that future just a few short days ago.
With their consent, I'm running the Great Manchester 10k for Diabetes UK this Sunday (10th May).
Diabetes is a common life-long health condition which affects 3.2m in the UK. There are estimated to be another 630,000 who have the condition but don't know it.
I hope my small gesture (and yours - just £1 from everyone I know on Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter could literally make thousands!) goes some way to helping fund and find a cure.
Follow my Twitter account - @renepower or #£1vsdiabetes for updates through to race day (Sunday 10 May) and confirmation of what I'll be running in/as.
And, if you came here this week as a result of one of my many social media postings as part of my mini #£1vsdiabetes 'campaign' - thank you - you're amazing!
Thanks again!
