For one in two of us, cancer will change everything. When it does, so can we. Our services, advice, therapies and support are for you and the people close to you, helping everyone to live with and beyond cancer. The funds we raise also support vital, pioneering research and clinical trials.

Story

Firstly; a massive thankyou for taking the time to look at my page, I know you will all get asked for sponsors a lot and I really, really appreciate your help and support.

I am running the Sheffield Half Marathon in 6 weeks, as you probably all know me you'll know I'm not built to be a runner nor am I very good at it but I will do my best, and will be honoured to do this in memory of my best friend's step dad, Steve. Steve was a truly lovely man who looked after me along with his equally lovely wife, and my second mum, from being a stroppy teenager to a hopefully less stroppy young woman, and who sadly lost his battle with cancer almost 3 years ago.

Steve was treated at Weston Park Cancer Hospital, as are thousands of other people from Sheffield and around the country, and they need to raise £1.3 million pounds a year to fund their care and treatment of cancer patients and to fund the pioneering, world class research they do into ways to cure this awful disease.

The statistics speak for themselves, 1 in 4 people will have cancer at some point in their lives, and I am confident every single one of you reading this will know someone or even be someone who has had it. So please, even if it is just a pound, donate to this cause which is close to my heart and maybe yours too.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thankyou all so much, and I'll be looking forward to a G and T afterwards-just the way Steve taught me-9 parts gin, 1 part tonic :) but until then I've got 6 weeks to do him proud...wish me luck!
