Autism NI is Northern Ireland’s main autism charity that was established 30 years ago. The charity exists to support over 35,000 autistic people and their families through a range of services across NI and campaigns for autism acceptance within society.

Story

As someone who has family members with ASD (autistic spectrum disorder) and also has a diagnosis of it myself, I am very aware of the difficulties that ASD causes both for high-functioning and low-functioning autistic people. There is so much that could be done to raise awareness of autism and help people with autism achieve their full potentials!

Autism NI exists to support individuals with autism and their families, and campaigns to raise awareness of autism within the wider society. Its vision is an equal society in Northern Ireland where barriers to those living with autism are removed, and equality of access to rights and opportunities protected and enforced. (http://www.autismni.org/mission-vision--values.html)

I am going to be completing a sponsored video game marathon on Friday 31st January to raise money for this great charity, with a couple of other fundraising events leading up to it.
