Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 2016 · 31 July 2016 ·

We fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

Story

Bowel Cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the UK.  It has been responsible for the deaths of both of my grandparents and  one of my friends - Alan Dix (Dixie).  I have also recently found out that  another of my former colleagues - John Hitchman is undergoing treatment.

I am riding in memory of those who we have all lost, and to show support for those who are suffering and recovering.  I am also very keen to promote early diagnosis of this condition.  The charity Beating Bowel Cancer is proactive in encouraging discussion and providing information on what can sometimes be an embarrassing topic.

This will be one day of suffering for a big lad on a bike - compared to much more endured by those who have it, and their loved ones who suffer with them.

If you can chuck anything in the pot - i will always be grateful. Thank-you as ever.
