South West Coast to Coast Challenge 2021 · 24 July 2021 ·
As many people are aware, within the last 18 months I have had a drastic lifestyle change, went back to uni, and become completely addicted to running. Just after Christmas I decided to take up the challenge of running every day for 365 days (which is actually proving to be a lot more successful than I anticipated!) and in the middle of this I have even managed to run my first marathon on my 26th birthday.
Since I am currently studying Marine Science with the goal to have a career in shark biology and conservation, I decided to take up the Coast 2 Coast Ultramarathon and raise money for The Shark Trust. (This was initially supposed to be last summer before good old Covid put a stop to it!)
Sharks and rays are some of the ocean's most amazing animals. Present in our seas for 400 million years, they are vital and valuable but also vulnerable. Around a quarter of the 1000 or so species of sharks and rays are considered "threatened", largely due to the impact of unsustainable fisheries. The Shark Trust works tirelessly in the UK and around the World to ensure endangered species of sharks are suitably protected, while also pushing for science-based fisheries management for all species to ensure long term sustainability.
Luckily I am already over half way with my fundraising as I can carry on from where I left it last year! However, any donations no matter how big or small would be greatly appreciated! I am sooooo ridiculously (and maybe concerningly) desperate to run my first ultramarathon and it would be incredible to raise money for something I care so much about at the same time!
Thank you, much love x x x x x x
