Bath Half Marathon 2012 · 11 March 2012 ·

We support thousands of people living with terminal illnesses & their families, in our three hospices, via our patient & family support services, and in the community through Myton at Home. We need to raise £12.7 million this year to provide our services free of charge – we can’t do it without you!

Story

Hi,

Firstly a big thank you for visiting my page and deciding to sponsor me!

On the eve of starting a new job last October I got it in to my mind that with a new start should come some new challenges. However, rather than thinking I might start a new hobby, I foolishly thought that running a half marathon should do the job! I must admit that the morning after it didn't seem like such a good idea, particularly given my lack of running ability / fitness / exercise regime / diet etc....

Since October I've slowly but surely been hitting the pavements and putting in the miles. As yet I fortunately haven't required the professional support of my husband who has very generously offered to follow me in a golf buggy with a megaphone and a taser gun (although there's still time)!!!

On a slightly more serious note I would really like to make a difference to others by completing this race and have chosen Myton Hospice as my charity. As many of you will know they have supported both myself and my family in the past. Without their support I know that what were already very difficult times would have been totally unbearable and so I want to ensure that others have access to the services and support that so helped my family.

Anything you can spare will be really appreciated by myself and those who will benefit from your donation. And just remember that it will be far less painful than having to force yourself out on an evening into the cold, wind and rain and then run past the pub, followed by the chippie, followed by the indian takeaway!!!

A big thank you

Rhian x
