London Marathon 2017 · 23 April 2017 ·

We are the largest charity dedicated to kidney research in the UK. Kidney disease ruins and destroys lives. Treatments are gruelling, relentless. There is no cure. We say this isn't good enough. We will transform kidney health. Kidney disease ends here.

Story

Hi all you beautiful kind people,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the 2017 Virgin London Marathon in memory of the kindest man, my father in law Robert Davies who sadly passed away 6 years ago this past October.

Running The London Marathon has always been on my bucket list and after seeing my husband complete the gruelling 26.2 miles in 2015 he has inspired me to train hard and achieve my goal of crossing the finish line.

I am running for Kidney Research UK to give back to a charity who supported Rob and all of the Davies family throughout Robs treatment and life as kidney transplant patient. I am hoping to raise as much money as possible to assist the charity with their aims of developing treatment, increasing patient information and raising public awareness.

A couple of facts on Kidney health in the UK:

  • 50,000 people die prematurely each year from chronic kidney disease.
  • A kidney transplant only lasts 10 to 15 years before a new one is needed (Rob had his kidney for 14 years at the time he passed away).
  • 90% of people on the UK transplant waiting list are waiting for a kidney.

I will be organising a number of events over the next 6 months so please come and join in on the fun for this fantastic cause.
