Hi everyone! 

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!  I'm running my very first marathon on Earth Day this year (April 22, 2018) and what better way to celebrate Earth Day than to raise money for an organisation that does incredible work on climate change and environmental protection?

The Environmental Defense Fund is a US-based nonprofit organisation that does highly collaborative, evidence-based work to curb climate change, reduce emissions, promote food security, protect oceans & ecosystems, and improve human health.  To read more about their work, I encourage you to visit their website: https://www.edf.org.   

Environmental issues are especially pressing in our current political climate, as the US government pulls back on regulation and withdraws support for clean energy initiatives.  As a US citizen living abroad, I've become increasingly worried about these trends while at the same time feeling far away and unsure of how to get involved to change things.  This is my way of getting involved.  I firmly believe that in our current political climate, the work of independent groups and nonprofits becomes even more crucial and they need our support.  The Environmental Defense Fund is doing excellent work, both in the US and abroad.  They are consistently given the highest charity ratings for their efficient and effective use of funds so whatever you feel you can give will go a long way.  Every little bit helps!
