Story

As you may be aware a very good friend of mine, Kris Toner,
sadly passed away last year following a battle with cancer.  I, along with a few other guys who are too old to do such things are doing the Three Peaks Challenge for the benefit of Action Cancer
; we want to help support the crucial work of local cancer charities in all that they do for those fighting cancer and their families and the devastating impact it has on them all.

The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales and is considered one of Britain’s toughest outdoor challenges, as it takes in the dizzy heights of Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085m). We will be climbing these mountains over the
space of a couple of days with very little rest inbetween.

The charity I have chosen to support is Action Cancer. Action Cancer is a Northern Ireland cancer charity, established in 1973 by cancer specialist Dr George Edelstyn. Their founder's vision for the future was that people in Northern Ireland would be free from the risk of cancer. At Action Cancer today their mission is to save lives and support people and they maintain a pioneering role in the development of cancer services.

Action Cancer works right across Northern Ireland providing:

Early detection services for the Northern Ireland community
Counselling and support services for cancer patients and their families

Cancer prevention

Health promotion

Each of us will know someone in our own circle of family or friends, whose life has been touched by cancer.  Northern Ireland is suffering from one of the highest incidences of the disease, Action Cancer is committed to further developing it's cancer prevention, detection and support services.

Any donations, no matter how small, will go a long way towards helping a great cause!

Thank you so much!
