Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

An old friend of mine, Anthony Lombardi, known as Lombo to his mates was killed in Afghanistan while serving in the British Army on the 4th August 2009.

Lombo and i went through training together in 2004/2005 and served together in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) all over the world, including Iraq and Afghanistan.

Lombo was tragically killed when the armoured vehicle he was driving  was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device, whilst attached to the Light Dragoons as their vehicle mechanic, leaving behind his fiance and 1 year old son.

Anthony lived for football, and his local team have played commemorative games each year, competing for the 'Lombardi Cup', but as this august will be be 10th anniversary i want to do something big. I'm raising money for the Royal British Legion by organising a football match back in his home town of Scunthorpe, playing at Scunthorpe Utd 's Glanford Park. The match is hoped to be played by both teams Lombo was a big part of, his local Beacon FC and the REME Corps team. KO is scheduledfor 11am after a 2minutes silence.

If anyone can help through sponsorship, advertisement or donations please get in touch and be a part of it. The Royal British Legion do so much for the Armed Services community, especially for injured veterans and the families going through bereavement.
