Tonight I will go cold, wet and hungry in support of fundraising for Action for Children, which in turn means raising as much needed money as possible for homeless children, kids currently living on our streets in this country right now, we're talking 18,000 kids as young as 11 years old forced onto the streets as a result of some pretty terrifying situations at home, typically this is where even more horrifying dangers and situations arise.
For me, it will be just one night, but for 75,000 young
people aged under 25 this is a reality every single night of the year and
that’s why I’m asking for any donations to what is a very important aspect of society.
Sadly, whilst we are all currently feeling the current economic situation, it actually means that for families with children in already extremely tough financial situations, the pressures and problems are much much worse which is proven to lead to more of our youngsters finding themselves on the streets over this last year.
The event, Byte Night, which takes place on 2 October will
see me along with over 350 other people spend a night uncovered and exposed to
the elements near in . Together we are aiming to raise £500,000 to
help Action for Children prevent youth homelessness and get thousands of young
people off the streets and into secure accommodation with education and
training opportunities.
I am aiming to raise £5,000, which will help pay
for a new kitchen in one of the leaving care and homelessness projects , ultimately, helping Action for Children reach out to children who are homeless now or at risk of becoming
homeless, some other examples of where money goes are;
£5 could help
pay for emergency overnight support for a young person living on the street
£10 could help
pay for a one-to-one advice session for a young person leaving care
£25 could help
keep the doors of one of our youth homelessness projects open for one hour
£50 could help
pay for a trained adviser to help parents struggling in poverty to budget
effectively so that their children can have healthy food and warm clothes
£75 could keep
a young person in supported lodgings for a week
£500 could keep
the doors of an emergency drop-in centre for young homeless people open for a
week
thank you so much for taking time to read this page, fundraising is going really well but of course, more would be better, thank you to everyone who has donated
