Richard John Tredgett died suddenly on 20th June 2019, aged 40. Born in Brighton, Richard had returned to the city in 2012 following years spent at university in Leeds, overseas in Bermuda and Madrid, and closer to home in London. Richard loved Kemp Town, buying a flat on the Kemp Town seafront, and spending too many nights to count (or remember...) having fun with friends in the bars in the neighbourhood. 

Sussex Heart Charity do fantastic work in helping to save and improve the quality of lives in Brighton and Hove and beyond. For example, they have funded the purchase and installment of hundreds of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), which can increase survival chances following a heart attack by 50%, and have recently supported the development of the first Cardiac Advanced Clinical Practitioners - highly trained specialist cardiac nurses and allied health professionals - in the county.

The family and close friends of Richard have established a fund with the Sussex Heart Charity in Richard's name. We have already raised enough money to purchase an Defibrillator to be placed at a to-be-determined location in Kemp Town, as part of the charity's ongoing AED in the Community project:(see https://sussexheartcharity.org/portfolio/aeds-in-the-community/)

In the long-term, we want to continue raising unrestricted funds for Sussex Heart Charity to invest in local cardiac services, all in Richard's memory, by organising charity events and taking part in sporting challenges.
