Hi!

Starting on 9th August, my team mate, Mark, and I will be competing in the Trans Rockies Mountain Bike Race.  Set in the spectacular (and very, very steep!) Canadian Rockies, this race lasts for 7 days, with 150 teams of 2 attempting to cycle almost 600 off-road kilometres, including nearly 16,000 metres of uphill (the equivalent of twice up Everest!!!).

We've been training for this since December last year, but inspite of all the hours spent on our bikes, we're in for a huge physical and mental challenge.  Many teams don't manage to complete the race, falling to either exhaustion or injury (or maybe just coming to their senses!!). 

Just to add to that pressure, I'm going to use the event to raise some money for Macmillan Cancer Support, an organisation that aims to improve the lives of those living with cancer, and their families (including my own).
