Richard Cranfield is raising money for Blood Cancer UK
Story
My name is Rick Cranfield and I am Assistant Headteacher at Heathlands Primary School in West Bergholt, Colchester. This year I have been fortunate enough to gain a charity place in the London Marathon and I shall be running for Leukaemia Research. This is a charity which has a great deal of significance to me and my family as my dad sadly lost his battle to chronic lymphocytic leukaemia in 2007. He was aged 56.
It has been a tough few years, including getting married without my dad at the top table. For our wedding gifts we asked for monetary contributions and passed some of the money on to Leukaemia Research as he was at the front of all our thoughts on that day. My grandad also had leukaemia. I have wanted to run the marathon for a few years now but for the last couple of years I have not been in the right frame of mind to do so. I now want to raise as much money as I can for Leukaemia Research to help other people who may face the same situation that I have found myself in and to complete the marathon as a tribute to both my dad and grandad.
