Story
It has been over two years since the conflict in Eastern Ukraine began and people are still being injured and killed everyday. Since the conflict began, over 9000 people have been killed, thousands have suffered life changing injuries or lost loved ones and over one million people have been forced to flee their homes. By taking part in this challenge, we want to help those who have been injured or have lost loved ones as a result of this invasion of Ukraine.
Ahead of Euro 2016, we will be jumping on our bikes and cycling over 150 miles from London to Lille, reaching our destination in time for Ukraine to play Germany in their opening game at Euro 2016.
Every penny raised will go straight to helping the causes which British-Ukrainian Aid (BUkrA) provide.
BUkrA supports people suffering from the armed conflict and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, including the injured and wounded, orphaned children, the elderly, internally displaced persons and families who have lost their breadwinners.
BUkrA's aim is to ensure that those who endured dispiriting life-changing experiences are properly prepared, reintegrated and helped to live independent and fulfilled lives.
The seven riders are made up of five, third generation Ukrainians living in the UK; Evhen & Petro Chymera, Stepan & Bohdan Luczka, Nick Favell, alongside two British friends, Euan Holloway and Ben Mansfield, keen to support the cause.
