New Years Day 500 miles by Ride to Raise

Simon Boone is raising money for St Luke's (Cheshire) Hospice

New Years Day 500 · 1 January 2022

For 35 years, St Luke’s has been providing free of charge specialist palliative care and support for people in mid & south Cheshire living with life limiting illnesses. Our support begins from the moment someone is diagnosed, through to palliative care and then ultimately end of life care.

Story

Ride to Raise is a group of people that had an idea during the first lock down, to get on motorbikes to help raise funds for those in need. 3 members of the group didn’t have motorcycle licences at the time, or own motorbikes  Over the last year, members of Ride to Raise have passed their motorcycle tests, bought motorbikes and adapted them for mini adventures. New Year’s Day shall be the first charity event to be held by Ride to Raise and is a 500 mile trip from St Luke’s  Hospice in Winsford, to Portsmouth and back along A roads. The journey is a 500 mile route to be completed in one day. The aim is to raise as much as we can and the ultimate goal would be that each rider raised £500 doing the event and we ask you all to please donate as much as can, how ever small.. We shall also be doing live Facebook feeds during the day (on New Year’s Day) to keep you all entertained during your hangovers  😂

Thank you to everyone who has donated

St Luke’s Story:

Since 1988, St Luke’s has been providing palliative care to local people, supporting them in ways which go beyond the scope and funding of the NHS. Last year we supported over 1,000 local people with a huge range of support from end of life care on our ward to supporting carers, and from helping children cope with grief to helping patients return to work after an illness. We are a charity and provide all our care for free, so we rely on the generosity and commitment of our supporters to raise more than 80% of our costs.
