Oodles of noodles in a canoodle

River Thames Canoe Trip · 12 July 2018
We believe there should be a cure for spinal cord injuries. There are over 250,000 spinal cord injuries each year and men are 3 times more likely to suffer an injury vs. women.
Therefore, we are aiming to raise a minimum of £2,500 for the Wings For Life charity. and a great thing about Wings For Life is that 100% of all donations are used for research purposes because all administrative costs are kindly covered by the charity founder, Dietrich Mateschitz. Any money we are able to raise will go towards funding medical research projects around the world. This includes lab based research and clinical trials.
Every £pound you kindly donate will go directly to finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.
We are aiming to canoe the length of the Thames in July. This is normally a 6 day challenge but we are aiming to smash this and complete it in 4 days! We will set off from Lechlade (the uppermost navigable part of the river) on Thursday 12th July and finish at Teddington on Sunday 15th July. This is a 137 mile challenge and is the equivalent to more than a marathon a day! We will be camping out on the banks of the Thames and we will be transporting all of our supplies ourselves. This will be a serious challenge but hopefully a great adventure!
We are both passionate about this charity and have close connections to the world of spinal injuries. In fact Simon's brother, Steven, is a consultant at the William Harvey Hospital in Kent and specializes in Orthopaedic Spinal and Trauma Surgery. Steven has kindly agreed to provide the canoe for the challenge - what a legend! Thanks
We'd love you to get involved in this great cause and help us raise as much money as possible for Wings For Life.
