Story

Assalaamu ‘Alaikum,

Jazakallahu khairan for visiting my JustGiving page.

As-Suffa Institute was primarily established to enrich the lives of the Muslim community by providing them with the appropriate means to acquire sacred knowledge. It was clear that many people with busy lifestyles had a desire to comprehensively study the Sacred Sciences but could not do so due to the absence of an Institute that catered for their specific learning needs. As-Suffa Institute recognised and endeavoured to fulfil this requirement with the start of its first part-time class of the Alimiyyah course in 2004. Since then, by the Grace of Allah, As-Suffa Institute has been enrolling new Alimiyyah classes every year bar one.

Amongst the various obligations upon a Muslim community, one central task is the instilling of Islamic knowledge and Tarbiyya (inclusive development) in our children. By the Grace of The Most High, the Madrassa currently caters for approximately one hundred and fifty children between the ages of five and fourteen with classes becoming segregated at the age of seven. The classes are well structured and follow a practised programme consisting of Tajweed emphasised Qur’anic recitation, Hifzh (memorisation), Seerah (Life of Prophet Muhammad, Peace be Upon Him), and Akhlaaq (Moral Conduct). The ultimate objective of the As-Suffa Institute Madrassa is to nurture our youth with Islamic ideals leading to well grounded, confident and knowledgeable individuals who can serve as leading Muslim role models in their communities and beyond.

Alhamdulillah, As-Suffa recently acquired a new building within walking distance of the existing building in Aston, Birmingham.  The building was formerly used by the local authority as offices and requires considerable amount of renovation work before it can be used by As-Suffa Institute to offer our services to the Muslim community.

Over the past few months we have been working towards developing a 10 year vision for As-Suffa Institute in order to shape the re-design of the new building to meet our needs and to expand and diversify our services.

Insha’Allah our plans will transform the way we operate and Insha’Allah achieve our vision.  According to the current proposals the new building will be re-designed to allow:

·   10+ classrooms: our goal is to offer all our courses to sisters and all rooms will be fitted with the latest technology to ensure full segregation is maintained without compromising students learning experience.

·   Auditorium: a lecture-room style auditorium for our intensive courses will double up as a sports hall and a youth centre as we expand our services.

·   Meeting and Conference Room: dedicated meeting room to plan and manage meetings more effectively to collaborate with other institutes and offer the rooms to other local organisations.

·   Two large offices: space for scholars to have a dedicated "staff" area to prepare course materials and complete administrative tasks.

As non-profit organisation As-Suffa rely solely on donations from individuals like you, so please donate generously from your income for this noble cause. Money does not decrease by giving in charitable causes, but it is returned manifold in the Hereafter. By the grace of Allah, you can make a huge difference in educating our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters.

As Allah mentions in the Holy Qur'an:

“Those who (in charity) spend of their goods by night and by day, in secret and in public, have their reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.” [al-Baqarah, verse 274]

Narrated Abdullah Ibn Masood(R.A): I heard the Prophet (SAW) saying:

“There is no envy except in two: a person whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it in the right way, and a person whom Allah has given wisdom (i.e. religious knowledge) and he gives his decisions accordingly and teaches it to others. [Sahih Muslim]
