Welcome to the Roaring Meg Honey Fundraiser page!

Instructions for buying honey:

  1. There is a minimum donation of £5 per jar of honey but please feel free to donate more so we can hit our target of £1,000.
  2. Email  Property.Sustainability.Data.EMEA@aberdeen-asset.com stating the number of jars you would like and the address you would like them sent to including your postcode.
  3. Please use this page to make your donation and ensure you do not put yourself as anonymous so we can validate your donation against your jar of honey email request.

Background on this fundraising initiative:

As part of our ESG real estate commitments at ASI, we work to improve biodiversity and community engagement. Our real estate investment, Roaring Meg is a great example of this. We’ve supported bee hives at the site, and those bees have been very busy. They produced 170 jars of honey in 2020!!!

To make the most of the bees hard work we are selling the honey to raise money for the Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust supporting the local environment which in return supports the bees.

We did a tasting session in London a couple of years ago of honey from different sites and the Roaring Meg honey had some great feedback. Dan Grandage, Head of ESG for Private Markets, is local to the area - his daughter even designed the fantastic labelling.

Why protecting wildlife is so important:

  • There has been huge biodiversity loss in the UK – up to 60% of species decline over the last 50 years
  • Of more than 6,000 species that have been assessed using modern Red List criteria, more than one in ten are thought to be under threat of extinction in the UK. A further 885 species are listed as threatened using older Red List criteria or alternative methods to classify threat
  • The largest link to species decline is habitat loss

About Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust

We are the local conservation charity working throughout Hertfordshire and Middlesex. We take practical action every day to protect wildlife and to connect people with nature. We receive no direct government funding and rely on donations from our supporters to enable us to do our vital work.

With the help of our dedicated volunteers, we care for a network of over 40 nature reserves from ancient woodlands, to rare heathlands to globally rare chalk streams – all to benefit wildlife and our local communities.

We believe everyone has the right to benefit from access to nature. By making our nature reserves free to visit and by running hundreds of free events and activities every year, we provide the opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about and get closer to the wildlife on their doorsteps.  The Trust also works closely with our communities, from people to businesses, to help create homes for wildlife, so that everybody can gain the physical and mental benefits of connecting to nature. Through this we hope to create happier and healthier communities.
