LONDON GREAT RIVER RACE · 7 September 2013

We’re Age UK and we’re here to make sure every older person feels included and valued. Whether it’s providing free information and advice, tackling loneliness and isolation or campaigning for older people’s rights – we’ll be there. Your support makes it possible.

Story

As you may or may not know, in February I tore the medial meniscus cartilage in my right knee, which meant I had to have surgery and now have 80% less cartilage than I should have. Its been a slow and frustrating journey getting things back to normal, but I'm getting there (I reckon I'll be able to do the Can Can on NYE this year). I still have regular physio to help rebuild my knee and they recommend rowing as a good exercise. Apparently this race will take us 3-4 hours of solid rowing down the Thames, other than being an amatuer rower (I hired a pedlo once when I was 15), 22 miles is a doubly hard challenge because of my blinking knee!

Every year Sony nominate a Charity which this year is AGE UK, hopefully we'll all be old one day and who knows, we may need help from such a charity to get around, have hot meals, or just feel alive and wanted

Any donation helps, so please don't feel any amount is too small

Apparently donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure, so please get involved and donate when you can

Thank you for your support, Rob
