Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with bowel cancer in Feb 2006 and had a colon resection the next month. After the closure of my temporary stoma I experienced some obstructions due to adhesions for about a year afterwards. I also visited St Mark's hospital for further tests as well. These adhesion problems do surface from time to time in a more minor way but things are generally much better due to various Coloplast products......may I take the opportunity to put in a plug for them?
As we didn't distinguish ourselves at the World Cup this year, I thought of supporting Bobby Moore's memory in another way.
As I am celebrating five years of being bowel cancer free this year, what better way to celebrate than to run the London marathon a second time? Last time was in 2008 when I ran for Bowel cancer UK. I have chosen to run for Cancer Research UK the Bobby Moore fund as they support St Mark's hospital as well as much research into bowel cancer.
The longer runs are getting longer...about 16 miles on sat 26th Feb... and I plan on taking part in a 20 mile race in March. I have had one or two set backs such as a heavy cold and fever and more recently some adhesional issues again. This actually has made me more determined to participate remembering those who have been less fortunate than me. Do join me in supporting research into bowel cancer and help me get through those 26 and a bit miles.
I completed the Gloucester 20 mile race on Sunday 13th March. PB by 5 seconds!!! Last long run to Tewkesbury & back on Saturday 26th March...
