Story
On Sunday 24th of March 2013, two teachers from Lillington Nursery and Primary school (Mat Holt and Rob Fortune) will start their cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats and complete it in less than 10 days (with the help of our team organiser and tactician Dean Sanderson). That's right... Three grown men, one campervan, cycling 1000 miles in under 10 days!
This fundraising event is being carried out primarily in honour of the late Mat Davis, a truly inspirational and talented young man who used to work at Lillington and Nursery and Primary School but who sadly lost his battle with cancer last September. Mat was a tremendously keen cyclist who valiantly attempted the Land's End to John O'Groats challenge last year but unfortunately could not finish due to a significant deterioration in his health. However, we are also completing the challenge in recognition of other close family and friends who have been affected by cancer in recent years.
It is our belief that Mat, with his ever competitive nature, would want this challenge to be completed. We now intend to continue with the outstanding efforts Mat made in raising awareness and money for Cancer Research UK.
With the help of Dean Sanderson, websites, events, twitter and 'just giving' links are now up and running for you to follow and support. Please spread the word, donate what you can and help us to achieve a fitting legacy in memory and recognition of Mat and the many others who have, and are still, battling with cancer.
