Walk up Scafell Pike · 19 September 2014

The charity's three helicopters and four rapid response vehicles operate 365 days a year, with doctors and paramedics on board providing enhanced prehospital care to people across the entire North West region.

Story

Scafell Pike is the highest mountain in England, at an elevation of 978 metres (3,209 ft) above sea level. It is located in Lake District National Park, in Cumbria. It is part of the Southern Fells. As the highest ground in England, Scafell Pike naturally has a very extensive view, ranging from the Mourne Mountains to Snowdonia.

My walk will start from Langdale. The total distance is about 29 kilometres (18 miles) and it will take around 8 hours.

From the Old Dungeon Ghyll hotel, the route proceeds up alongside Rossett Gill (which perhaps has a more fearsome reputation than it deserves), past Angle Tarn, and then onto Esk Hause before joining a rocky path to the summit.

All funds raised will be matched £4£ by Barclays doubling the amount donated!
