Cycling London 2 Paris to raise money for tree planting for the National Trusts 125th Anniversary · 4 July 2020

We're a charity that looks after special places throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland for ever, for everyone. This includes 780 miles of coastline, over 248,000 hectares of land and over 500 historic houses, castles, ancient monuments gardens and parks and nature reserves.

Story

The National Trust has an ambition to plant 20 million Trees over the next 10 years and in North Devon they are keen to plant 125,000 within three years. I'm raising money to help the Trust plant these trees. The trees will be in places for people to enjoy, a place for nature to thrive and a great way of storing carbon and fighting back against climate change. One tree can absorb up to 1 tonne of CO2 in its lifetime.

The money raised will be spent purchasing trees to plant in October 2020 on the North Devon Coast. The trees will be a mix of oak, birch, sycamore, hazel, hawthorn, alder, willow and various fruiting trees. £5 can pay to plant a broadleaf tree sapling such as an oak, with £20 helping to plant a fruit tree sapling.

The aim is to cycle from North Wales to South Wales via Snowdonia National Park and the Brecon Beacons National Park, a total of 150miles with over 4000m of climbing, The aim is to cover the distance in 36 hours one weekend at the end of July.
