We train law students and young lawyers to provide free representation at tribunals

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have volunteered for the FRU since 2012 and have learned more about the  law doing this work than I did doing my law degree or the bar course. Volunteering has also given me a personal perspective on why the work of the FRU is crucial, both the Social Security and Employment work give enormous assistance to people who otherwise would face Tribunal alone because they cannot afford to instruct a lawyer, sometimes in the most distressing and difficult circumstances. Having been in and out of the FRU office for 8 years Im very aware of how hard it is for the trustees, management committee, and staff , to keep the show on the road supervising us volunteers and making sure the office functions effectively. There is a constant worry about having the necessary funds to pay for staff and equipment and this is why Ive decided that my 106 mile walk along the South Downs way this May will be an opportunity to raise some funds. Please give what you can by sponsoring my walk for a small amount per mile or a one-off amount for the whole endeavour.
