Why shave my hair, I hear you ask?
It is my opinion that hair is important. It offers women (and men) a sense of individual security. It is the ultimate accessory and the finishing piece to every outfit. Hair is integral to self image and to give that up would be giving up a sense of security, and of femininity...but it’s something that is worthwhile to me if it will raise awareness and move others to make a donation to Make-A-Wish foundation.
Shaving off my hair will impact my life...but in turn I will be able to impact on the lives of young children. It’s a small price to pay to insure a smile from a child or young person suffering from a life-threatening illness.
Make-A-Wish foundation
mission statement: To grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses and raise the funds necessary to grant those wishes. In doing so, we operate to the highest ethical, legal and professional standards so that families choose Make-A-Wish to grant their child's wish and medical staff and supporters hold Make-A-Wish in high regard.
Make-A-Wish needs to raise £5.5m in 2011 to grant wishes to the 20,000 children and young people with life threatening illnesses.
