Story
When we both were thinking of how to spend a romantic 10 days together, one of us had images of luxury resorts and fine dining. Don't ask that person why we now will both attempt to summit the famous Kilimanjaro ! We'll hike 85km, sleep in tents, walk in heat, under the rain, in cold and on snow, and try to avoid most of the unpleasant symptoms of altitude sickness. There are no Michelin star restaurants up the mountain (maybe something to think about), and not much either of decent phone connection.
In between Hong Kong brunches we trained by exploring as many trails in HK as possible (call us for advice!) or occasionally taking the full rucksack to the gym (a great conversation starter). We think we're kinda ready. At least we got all the gear (but no heels on the hiking boots).
We know that it will be a painful journey, but we are sure that all of the pain (both mental and physical) will be worthwhile when we reach the 5,895m peak, especially when raising money for such a great cause. Friends of the Earth have spent over 40 years protecting the planet. They need our help as they rely on public support to continue their work. They have won new laws to protect our water, wildlife, landscapes, climate and health, and they're active globally. We know that the protection of our planet is a concern to many of our friends and we hope you'll support Friends of the earth today!
Our climb starts on October 3rd. Please donate. We thank you for your generosity !
