Rod's Defy the Odds Cycle - Inverness to Applecross via coastal roads

Defy the Odds - Slovenia to Croatia 300 mile cycle ride · 10 May 2021
I turned 50 in January 2020 and decided it was time to take on another challenge to celebrate.
This challenge came up and it seemed ideal, since it is a significant enough challenge for me, having not cycled that distance before and will require a prolonged fitness plan in order to achieve this successfully.
My wife suffered a near death accident in 2016, after she was knocked off her bike and run over by a lorry whilst riding her bike. Her recovery was long and painful, she suffered from post-traumatic stress then a bout of depression. She had counselling and support however still struggles today.
My eldest child came out as being a trans gender man around 3 years ago and suffers with POTS, Austim, Depression and a number of other mental health issues.. He is 19 now and the lack of support for teenagers within the NHS for mental health issues is distressingly poor and waiting list are unacceptable.
Anything I can do to help raise funds for Mental Health UK, will help ensure other children don’t go through the lack of support my son has received.
So please donate!
Please Note:
Due to COVID-19 the event has been postponed twice and will now happen in June 2022. In the meantime I will be doing other challenges and keeping up with the training. I have already done a 4by4by4 challenge where I cycled 4 miles every 4 hours for 4 days. Ended up doing 25 legs and 120 miles.
