This summer I will be travelling to KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa for 6 weeks to teach young children English. I will be teaching and travelling on behalf of Warwick in Africa.
For me, education as a concept has always been a constant and a given. It is upon this basis that I have gained access to endless opportunities and support. Some are not as lucky. The impact that previous Warwick in Africa students have had on the lives of young students is priceless and I would love to follow in these footsteps and try my hardest to make a difference. I know that for me, the impact that my teachers had on my life is something I will always hold dear to my heart and I can only hope to make the same impact on the schoolchildren that I will be teaching this summer.
Warwick in Africa is in its 12th year and since its conception has benefitted and changed the lives of thousands of young learners across Africa. Since 2006 Warwick in Africa has benefitted 465,000 young minds across the continent.
South Africa is just one country where the effect of Warwick in Africa has been strongly felt by both teachers and students alike. Education, particularly in South Africa, has been an incredibly momentous and impactful institution within South Africa's history. Within South Africa, many young children are deprived of a sufficient and well-rounded education and denied of the many privileges that accompany education. It is within this that many young people find themselves turning to crime and prevented from fully accessing their potential.
Warwick in Africa seeks to stop this cycle by not only offering necessary educational support but also by inspiring and supporting students. Warwick in Africa also does not limit its effect to just students but to teachers as well, where 100% of African teachers who have found themselves within the programme feel that their teaching skills had improved.
The incredible work of Warwick in Africa would not occur however, if it were not for the number of charitable donations that the programme receives. It is here that your help can go a long way. Just £10 is what it takes to teach a child for one month. £10 is what it takes to potentially change a child's life and give them previously inaccessible opportunities. Any donations, large or small would be greatly appreciated.
It would be amazing if you could support me through this journey- I am incredibly grateful for all of your help. Thank you.
