Marie Curie is here for anyone with an illness they’re likely to die from, and those close to them. Whatever the illness, wherever you are, we’re with you to the end. We bring 75 years of experience and leading research to the care we give you at home, in our hospices and over the phone.

Story

I signed myself up for this triathlon as a way to raise awareness of the great work that Marie Curie do for those who need it, as well as a way to pay tribute and honour the memory of Jamie.

Jamie was one of my close friends in University, one of those annoying people who always did so well, yet was up for a laugh and never took himself too seriously. Me writing about his story and struggle with brain cancer would never do it justice, but thankfully he did it so eloquently himself in his blog- http://www.thelastthingiexpected.com/

When I entered this event I couldn't swim. AT ALL. Me being unable to swim was always a source of entertainment to Jamie (as well as most of my friends in adult life), so I think he'd appreciate that I have learnt the life skill especially for this.

Marie Curie provided invaluable practical and emotional support to Jamie's family in the last few months of his life, allowing him to remain at home and to keep things as "normal" as possible.
