We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

The day I was born my Father tells me it was a cold and frosty November night with stars filling the clear sky, when he took me outside into the garden he walked onto the crisp frosted white lawn and raised me above his head saying "Romeo Casanova Valentino Romaeo. I'm going to make you someone the world is never going to forget." Whether that dream comes true or not it was his dream, and a promise he made only to himself. From then on I have grown up enjoying everyday of my unusual childhood, up at 4am, home educated, training daily three times a day, martial arts, boxing, overall fitness and seven meals a day to get through, he had & has always shown and given me loads and loads of love and affection, and still continues too now, our relationship has always been very close and special and that has always meant a lot more to me than Dad trying to get the world to notice me, but Dad is Dad he held me to the stars that cold frosty night and to this day he don't have any intentions of ever giving up guiding me to achive our goal and seeing me lifting the World Champion Boxing Belt above my head like he did me.

I could say to him "Dad I don't think that will ever be possible" but I'll never be saying that, why? Because I believe in myself as much as I've always believe in him, after all he's my Dad he's guided me through my childhood being my Brother, friend, teacher, trainer and nutritionist, he's always been there for me, what more would a son or daughter want from a parent, that's why I believe I can beat the World record skipping marathon of 33 hours 20 minutes.

If you're trying to achieve, there will always be roadblocks. I've had them; everybody has had them but as a child and even now in my teens I will still need to be shown that obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it. Would I ever have worked that out if it wasn't for my Dad showing me?

Mums and Dads who have chidren with serious illnesses face obstacles too, together with their child they must find a way over, through or around the obstacles that are put in front of them to strive and have hope that maybe one day together with their child whether it's guidence from themselves or a teacher they can try to achive their goal in life, the Great Ormond street Hospital will have lots of Mums and Dads with children who will want their child to have a happy life able to achive too, I can't even start to imagine how a parent/parents of an unwell child would feel as I yet have no children of my own, but I do remember my Dad being very ill not so long ago and at 17 years of age it was a great worry and concern to me, crying myself to sleep at bedtime, our last words to eachother before we sleep has always been "I love you Dad" & "I love you too Ro."

I got to finish this little story here and now as I could go on writing forever, I think what I'm trying to say in my little story is that life is all about CHILDREN without children there's no future. So please dig deep and help me by donating now.

Every donation helps Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity to provide the best facilities and equipment, research and develop new treatments, and support their remarkable patients and their families.

Thank you so much,

Romeo Casanova Valentino Romaeo.
