Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I’m running the London Marathon for RNID because I know what a big difference even the smallest changes can make for people affected by hearing loss.
I’ve had no hearing in my right ear, and high frequency hearing loss in my left ear, since I was just a baby. Luckily, this means I’ve been able to adapt well as I’ve grown up with it, to the point that many friends and colleagues don’t realise I’m hearing impaired until I tell them (and sometimes think I’m just ignoring them).
I feel even more lucky though to have had amazing support from my family and friends to manage this, and want to celebrate the ways they’ve adapted too - whether it’s remembering to always walk or sit on my left side, helping to explain to others who don’t know if I’m struggling in a group conversation, and just general patience with my resulting poor balance!
The world is increasingly adapting too and RNID are playing a huge role in this to make everyday life and society more inclusive, from campaigns to improve subtitling in tv and film, offering support and guidance for people dealing with hearing loss, or fighting to keep hearing aids free and accessible on the NHS. Any donation you can give will be hugely appreciated to help them keep making the big and small differences, and make life easier for anyone affected by hearing loss - I’ll also be getting £ for £ matched fundraising from my company making your donation go even further. Thank you!
