I am running in the Virgin London 2016 Marathon in memory of my beautiful friend Emily Longley. At the age of 17 Emily's life was taken away from her by her ex-boyfriend. Prior to her murder, Emily experienced both psychological and physical abuse at the hands of her ex-boyfriend, unknown to family and friends. Emily was a beautiful young woman whose spirit was filled with determination, affection and a pure love for life. 

Two women are killed by a current or former partner every week in England and Wales, one woman in four experiences domestic violence at some point in her life and one in five teenagers have been physically abused by a boyfriend or girlfriend. 

By running in the London Marathon and sharing Emily's story I hope to raise awareness for domestic abuse. The money that I raise through my sponsorship will be donated to Refuge. Refuge is a charity that focuses on preventing domestic violence, along with providing services to protect and support victims.
