We bring education to forgotten children

Story

Many find the idea of fundraising for the London Marathon daunting, we're not talking about small amounts of money to chase from family, friends, colleagues, strangers, ageing dowagers or octogenarian millionaire oil barons and so forth. So what better way to raise the stakes and make it worth your while to sponsor me a few bob than to do TWO MARATHONS within a month of each other, having never run a marathon before.

So, on April 17th 2011 I shall be lining up to run the London Marathon. Then, barely 5 weeks later, on 22nd May 2011 I shall be at the starting line of the Edinburgh Marathon to try and run the 26.2 miles even faster.

There are many causes to run for when doing these things and I try to pick something I could really get behind. Since the late 90's Children in Crisis have set themselves on a worldwide mission to establish programmes of education for kids in underprivileged or war ravaged areas. Check out more about them and their work at their website: http://www.childrenincrisis.org/

I'm going to have to dig deep to get through this, I'd be inspired and grateful if you did too. I want to hit a 3h30m finish in one of these Marathons, why not give me an incentive?

We work in some of the world's poorest places, where people suffer the effects of conflicts beyond their control. We are specialists in supporting communities that are remote, difficult to get to and difficult to work in. Put simply, we help children in places other charities just don't go.
