Brighton to Eastbourne Walk · 8 September 2018

The Ghana Education Project works in the region of Nkwanta in North East Ghana. It seeks to promote the development of the local community through education, training and the associated infrastructure. Our pioneering Girls’ School opened in September 2013. http://www.ghanaeducationproject.org.uk/

Story

Hi, I’m Rosie Crotty and this September I will be walking 30 miles from Brighton to Eastbourne in order to raise money for the Ghana Education Project.

This is a charity that my school, Tunbridge Wells Girls Grammar School, has worked very closely with in order to ensure an education, as well as support equality and development in Ghana.  I, along with 15 other girls, will be volunteering in Nkwanta in order to help teach and support the pupils for two weeks. This will involve core subjects.

The Ghana Education Project is a small charity founded by Gill Norris who has been awarded an MBE for her work. In 2013 the Kyabobo Girls’ School was set up, enrolling 350 pupils which is an excellent achievement. The secondary school is free, therefore allows an access to education in more deprived areas. The charity provides the school with a brilliant quality of facilities which is essential as education is extremely important. The education in Ghana increases employment opportunities for women, emphasising the importance of equality.

The walk will take place on the 8th of September, from Brighton Pier to Eastbourne Pier. The whole team will walk together for 30 miles and all funds raised will go towards the Ghana Education Project.I am extremely excited to be able to work with such an amazing charity, and would be so grateful for any donations.
