Story
On August 28th 2018 I will be cycling from my house in Syreford, Cheltenham, UK to Paris, France as fast as possible (under 24 hours). I will be raising money for World Bicycle Relief who's aim is to mobilise people in developing countries through the power of the bicycle. Bicycles will significantly reduce journey times for people who's only previous transport option would be to walk, and hence improve independence and livelihood. Each bike costs $134 dollars and all donations will go towards funding the donation of bicycles to worthy recipients.
The journey is 400km in length (cycling distance). Unfortunately the ferry is unavoidable (damn geography) and to cycle to Dover, then Calais to Paris, in a day will not be feasible. I will therefore be taking the Newhaven to Dieppe ferry. The ferry takes 4 hours, plus around 2 hours for check in, boarding and disembarking. This leaves me with 18 hours to complete the 400 km journey, which I feel is challenging enough for a first attempt at something like this but very doable. I will also have a support car (mainly because my family fancied the trip to Paris I think ;))
Your donations will be greatly appreciated and will go to a very worthy cause.
