Story
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page. A reasonably fit man, at 64 years of age I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I had my prostate removed and looked forward to a healthy future thereafter, in spite of the huge side effects caused by the surgical operation.
A few years later I was told that the cancer had spread to my spine for which there is no known cure. Average life expectancy was advised as 18 months. I am now 71, some 3 years after the bad news was given to me.
I continue to fight for a long life, being as positive as ever, and now wish to help Prostate Cancer Research by sailing my co - owned Sadler 29 yacht, named GEMINI, around Britain, partially single handing and partially with friends. I started on 10 June 2019, some 6 weeks later than planned owing to a broken right thumb.
My 4 month plan for completion of this challenge was achieved on 17 September but I continued on to Poole Harbour, arriving in Wareham on 19 September. My progress can be found on my blog www.mailasail.com/gemini1. I would be delighted if readers could donate to this significant cutting edge prostate cancer research charity.
Having completed the circumnavigation, I continue to look to supporters to spread the word as there is still some way to go to achieve my fundraising target. Prostate cancer research has to be worth at least the cost of a meal out. (See latest update below)
