Royston's Lands End to John O'Groats 2014

Lands End to John O'Groats 2014 · 7 June 2014
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2013 I cycled Lands End to John O'Groats (LEJOG) to try and find a safe route for cyclists to use. In 2009 I cycled the reverse - JOGLE - and rode on very busy main roads. In 2013 a couple of cyclists riding LEJOG were crushed under a lorry on the A30, a road I had ridden all the way through Cornwall, and I decided that there must be a better way.
I created a route and rode it last year in September to test it. It was 90% brilliant. The other 10% needed some work so I have re-routed and am re-riding to see if I have got it right. If I have I will break the route into 50 mile sections and made gpx files available through my website - www.landsend-to-johnogroats.co.uk .
I am making the ride in support of War Child having been affected by news reports of children whose families have been torn apart by war. Living in a peaceful and stable country it is heart rending to imagine my own children forced into the same situation. I have selected War Child because they are the only agency that specialises in child protection in conflict-affected countries. Other charities run child protection projects as part of their emergency or humanitarian work but this is War Child's sole focus and they are experts in it. This means all of the money donated will go to this specific cause.
I have chosen to set up a JustGiving page for donations becasue donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I have added some photos from a previous trip to add colour to the page.
